Sri Lanka is a country with a rich architectural history which has influenced the building of houses in numerous ways. There is a Westernized 3D look in almost all modern houses which are constructed today and the use of plenty of shapes can also be seen. For example most houses comprise of boxy designs which are quite attractive. Other than that people have moved from painting their houses fully white as in the past and has got used to try out different colours which are quite attractive as well.

Rather than in the past today most of the houses built are either semi luxury or full luxury and more thought has been put into the interior design of the houses as well. Lot of people are now seeking and consulting interior designers and getting their ideas and some even get interior designers to handle the full interior of the house as well. Few attractive features that are commonly been used are use of more natural light to light up the day, Using of cool colour lights like blue, yellow, green for some areas, use of more geometrical shapes, avoiding excessive accessories and decorations, minimal use of textures, using of attractive wall decors Etc. Other than that houses are fully tiled and use of pantry cupboards in kitchens are common as well.
