Skills College of Technology (SCOT) is the dedicated training and assessment arm of Skills International. It comprises of an Engineering Faculty, a Faculty of Training Material Development and an Assessment & Examination Department. Located in Nugegoda, Kandy, Jaffna and Kurunegala, the SCOT currently caters to around 2,000 students. It is an approved centre of City & Guilds of UK and is registered with the Tertiary & Vocational Education Commission of Sri Lanka. Its teaching faculty consists of both permanent and visiting resource persons. The visiting faculty comprises of personnel drawn from universities, technical and technological institutions and industry. This diversity and the experience of the teaching faculty have ensured the quality and relevance of training provided by SCOT.
Over the years SCOT students have been assessed highly (maintaining a 95% pass rate at present) by City & Guilds. Several students have been awarded “Medals of Excellence”, which are presented to students who obtain the highest mark in a particular subject. Last year Mr. Tharindu Rajapakse, a student of SCOT, was presented with the ‘Lion Award’ which is awarded to the best amongst the “Medals of Excellence” awardees internationally, thus bringing honour & recognition to the country and SCOT. It was the first time a Sri Lankan had won the award.
