The property is also conveniently situated a stone’s throw from other popular hill country destinations, such as Ella, Nuwara Eliya and Haputale.

The location is also a utopia for bird-watching, of which the most sought after inhabitant in the area, is the Ceylon Red-rumped Swallow, also known as Wehi Lihiniya in Sinhalese. One of the native birds to Sri Lanka, these interesting visitors have taken a fancy to an age old tunnel bordering the lodge which was built over 100 years ago when they were first laying the railroads in the hill country. A cool and clear stream flows through this tunnel, which is a paradise for the Ceylon Red-rumped Swallow. Another key feature of this babbling brook is that you will be serenaded by the tinkle of it passing by throughout the day, even ferrying you on to dreamland when you fall asleep. You also get a free-of-charge wake up call, courtesy of our friendly Jungle Fowl, of whom you can find in abundance around the property.
