Uga Jungle Beach
If you’re looking for a luxurious Sri Lankan getaway that’s out of the city and right on the beach, numerous reviews say that Uga Jungle Beach in Trincomalee is one of the best options on the island.
The majority of TripAdvisor, Booking.com, and Agoda.com reviews say that Uga Jungle Beach is a great location for rest and relaxation when you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Reviews further detail, however, that this is not the ideal location for you if you plan on flitting to and from the city, dining in town, doing lots of shopping, or frequently going to festivals or events. According to one disgruntled reviewer, “The hotel is a 30-min drive or 40-min tuk-tuk ride to the center of Trincomalee … This means that all your food, drink, activities and any other needs need to be taken care of by the hotel.”
If this suits your style, however, Uga Jungle Beach is again, an excellent choice.
One highly satisfied reviewer on Agoda.com called it a “tranquil escape,” also saying that, “The beach was lovely and we felt like we had it all to ourselves.”
In addition to a gorgeous beachfront property on-site at the resort, guests have the option of joining numerous activities throughout the week, all of which are planned by the Uga Jungle Beach staff, who are said to be very friendly. You can have your choice of diving with whales, snorkeling with colorful reef fish, sailing off the coast of Kuchchaveli, jet skiing on the open waters, and more. There are also many nearby attractions to enjoy if you’re feeling adventurous on your own.
Those who aren’t interested in exploring the region can have fun staying at the resort campus as well. Many guests enjoy spending their days at the beach or one of the numerous pools on the resort’s premises. You might also consider a massage, manicure, or other service at the on-site spa. Many reviewers mentioned the spa being very luxurious and comfortable, but some reviewers were unhappy that the services were not free.
Another of the biggest attractions at Uga Jungle Beach is the restaurant, and reviews are full of praise for the excellent food served here. Just keep in mind that meals and drinks are not included in the cost of your stay at the resort, and many reviewers said that, though delicious, the food was expensive.
Finally, the rooms at Uga Jungle Beach are liked by guests. They are said to be clean and comfortable, and reviewers liked the combination of luxury resort style with the organic jungle environment. One reviewer said it made their room feel like a plush and lavish tree house.
