Maximum retail prices imposed on bottled drinking water

The Consumer Affairs Authority issuing an extra-ordinary gazette notification has imposed maximum retail prices on bottled drinking water.According to the extra-ordinary gazette notification which has come into effect last Friday, the maximum price of a 350 – 499 mili litre bottle of drinking water should be 26 rupees.

A 500 – 749 mili litre bottle should be 35 rupees while a 750 – 999 mili liter water bottle should be 40 rupees.

The gazette notification further notes that a 1 – 1.499 liter water bottle should be sold at a maximum retail price of 50 rupees while a 1.5 – 4.999 liter water bottle should be sold at a maximum price of 70 rupees.

The Consumer Affairs Authority notes that the maximum retail price of a 5 – 6.999 liter water bottle should be 150 rupees while a 7 liter bottle of drinking water should be sold at 170 rupees.
