ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) Babar Azam hit a second successive century and lifted Pakistan to 219-9 against Sri Lanka in the second one-day international on Monday.
Azam scored a gutsy 101 off 130 balls with six fours a day after his 23rd birthday. He revived the Pakistan innings with a 109-run stand for the seventh wicket with Shadab Khan, who was unbeaten on 52 with a solitary boundary.
Sri Lanka seamers Lahiru Gamage (4-57) and Thisara Perera (2-34) had put Pakistan in deep trouble at 101-6 in the 28th over after Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and elected to bat.
Azam, who scored a century in Pakistan’s 83-run victory in the first game, finally fell to Gamage in the last over.
